The inaugural Wellington Medal has been awarded to Tabasom Haghighi of the Department of Chemistry. The medal was proposed by the Duke of Wellington and is awarded to an outstanding student in the year of their graduation.

In the Guardian university league tables 2019, the Department of Chemistry at King's College London has been ranked 12th in the UK, ahead of the Universities of Bristol, Birmingham and Warwick.
