Study Skills and Support

At King's there are wide variety of study skills resources and free activities available that are designed to support you and to help you succeed in your studies:

Skills Hub

In the Student Services Skills Hub you can access a range of resources to support you in a wide variety of areas such as:

  • Academic and writing skills
  • Delivering presentations and group work
  • Employability skills
  • Exams support
  • Life skills

Study Skills Centre

The Study Skills Centre provides mathematical and statistical support; as well as support for writing and academic skills development. 

You can attend workshops and access e-learning materials.


King’s Learning and Skills Services (KLaSS) 

Library Services, with input from other areas of the University, coordinate a wide range of free activities to help you succeed in your studies or research. These cover areas such as:

  • Academic writing and completing your dissertation
  • Literature searching
  • Critical thinking
  • Team working
  • Note-taking and time management
  • Referencing and bibliographic management software such as Desktop EndNote and RefWorks
  • Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ways to avoid plagiarism
  • Quoting and paraphrasing 
  • Citation and referencing styles

Literature search support

The KLaSS KEATS page contains information and e-learning activities that cover:

Subject Focused Library Guides

The Library provides information tailored to your subject to help you find key resources for your discipline. This includes:

IT Skills 

Resources to help you develop your IT skills to support and enhance your study, research and work, including:

  • Free courses delivered by specialists to help you make the most of your free Microsoft Office 365 software
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification
  • Comprehensive guides to RefWorks and EndNote

KEATS Student Support Course 

The Student Support Course on KEATS contains guidance and support documents for all students.
