Equality & Diversity Committee
The Faculty's Equality & Diversity Committee was formed in October 2013. Part of this committee’s remit is to drive our activities toward gender equality. We aim to ensure that the culture, practices and processes of the Faculty are fair and inclusive; this will benefit everyone, not only women.
Our Equality & Diversity Committee includes representation from each department and is diverse with respect to career stage, family responsibilities, gender, ethnicity and other protected characteristics.
Each Department of NMS has their own Equality & Diversity Committee which considers more local matters and works in tandem with the Faculty.
The current terms of reference and membership are available (internal page) here.
Role of the NMS E&D Committee
Specific NMS E&D Committee Objectives
The NMS E&D Committee oversees and guides the Faculty to provide an inclusive environment for staff and students. It identifies, implements, promotes and monitors Faculty level actions aimed at improving the working and learning environment for academics, professional services staff and students, in line with College objectives.
The committee also acts as a steering group for departmental E&D activities. Each departmental sub group of the NMS E&D Committee identifies, implements, promotes and monitors department level actions aimed at improving the working and learning environment; the E&D department leads report to the NMS E&D Committee on this.
The NMS E&D Committee reports to the Faculty Executive Board.
