Biography

Adeline is Lecturer in French Law and Director of the joint LLB/Master 1 in English Law & French Law. She joined the Dickson Poon School of Law in 2019. Previously, she was Maître de conférences (Lecturer) in Private Law at the University of Antilles where she was Director of the Licence en droit (Law UG studies), after having taught as assistant Lecturer at Panthéon-Assas University (Paris II), Panthéon-Sorbonne University (Paris 1) and the University of Cergy-Pontoise. She holds a PhD in Law from La Sorbonne and a Master in European Union Law from Assas. Prior to her embarking on an academic career, Adeline practised in a French law firm focusing on representation before the country’s Supreme Courts (SCP Alain Bénabent, Avocats aux Conseils).

Research interest

Intersections between European Union Law and Private Law, including Private International Law, make up Adeline’s primary field of inquiries. In this respect, she is in charge since 2017 of the yearly case law review of French judicial decisions applying European Union Law in the referred Revue trimestrielle de droit européen. In addition, Adeline takes a keen interest in combining socio-legal and doctrinal analysis, as exemplified in her 2018 book published in the private law series of the leading French legal publisher, “Public policy in national law and in European Union Law. An attempt at systemisation” in which she deals with the notion of “ordre public” (translated into English as either “public policy” or “public order”) and how it is used to bring social values into the judge’s reasoning.
