Biography
Catherine has a PhD in Language and Ethnicity and an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching (ELT) from King’s College London. She also has the Cambridge Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA) and she was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2023.
Catherine has been teaching EAP for over 20 years. She has worked on pre-sessional, in-sessional and/or foundation courses in several universities including Middlesex, Sheffield, UCL and SOAS. At SOAS she was the IELTS coordinator, and she also developed a tailor-made short course in research methods and EAP for pre-undergraduate students attending a Super Global High School (SGH) in Tokyo, Japan.
Catherine’s research interests are teaching academic literacies and increasing learner autonomy. Her hobbies include going to the theatre, travelling, and swimming. She also enjoys vegan cuisine from around the world.
