Biography
Charlotte Ward-Kelly is a part-time PhD student within the King’s War Studies Department, where she is researching identity, gender, and Britishness in the Royal Navy 1900-1950.
She holds a BA in history from the University of Leicester and a MA in naval history from the University of Portsmouth, where she researched the relationship between navy, nation, and royalty.
Charlotte has spent over a decade working in heritage, museums, and archives including Historic Royal Palaces and the Lloyd’s Register Foundation. She currently works at Findmypast, overseeing the digitisation and publication of millions of historical records. Charlotte also acts as the company’s naval and maritime expert, contributing to research projects and public engagement.
