Biography

Dan graduated with a Masters in Chemistry from the University of York in 2012, staying on to complete a PhD in the research group of Prof. David K. Smith, where his research interests were in developing self-assembling, hybrid and multidomain photopatterned hydrogels for potential uses in biomedical applications. His PhD was funded by a Teaching Studentship, giving him a lot of experience of working in teaching laboratories and assisting in designing practical courses; he was also completed the York Learning and Teaching Award, a programme for gaining further skills in developing, evaluating and reflecting on teaching.

Research Interests

Chemistry: supramolecular chemistry, self-assembly, nanomaterials, gels

Pedagogy: team-based learning, research-led/research-based approaches
