Biography

After pursuing his BSc and MSc studies at the University of Vienna, Dietmar continued with a PhD programme in Biochemistry at the University of Antwerp under the supervision of Professor Frank Sobott and Professor Sylvia Dewilde. Dietmar’s research interest during his PhD focused on the characterisation of membrane proteins by native mass spectrometry. In late 2019, Dietmar joined the Reading group at King’s College London to develop hydrogen/deuterium exchange mass spectrometry techniques for studying membrane proteins in general and the AcrAB-TolC pump in particular, which play a pivotal role in antimicrobial resistance in gram-negative bacteria.

Research Interests

  • Hydrogen/Deuterium exchange mass spectrometry
