Clare Moriarty completed her PhD at KCL in 2018, with a dissertation on the relationship between the pragmatist elements of George Berkeley’s philosophy and his outlook on mathematics. Previously, she studied philosophy at Cambridge University and English literature at University College, Dublin.

She has recently been lecturing on Irish philosophy at University College Dublin, and conducting research for the Justice for Magdalenes Research network.

Dr Moriarty is interested in early modern philosophy broadly, but particularly in issues relating to metaphysics and epistemology. Much of her research dovetails with the history and philosophy of mathematics and the evolution of calculus. She is also interested in early modern literature and satire.
