Biography

Dr Raquel Hidalgo is a Research Fellow and member of the Centre for Language, Discourse and Communication. She is also a Senior Lecturer at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. 

Research

Raquel's research interests and work include Spanish pragmatics and discourse analysis, interlanguage pragmatics, language assessment, portfolio and autobiographic assessment. In recent projects, she has worked in politeness and mitigation strategies in native and non-native speakers of Spanish, as well as affective and persuasive strategies related to face-work in Spanish political discourse. Raquel has also worked in non-native speakers pragmatic competence and dynamic assessment through participation in European Union projects on plurilingualism.

Her current research project is Pragmatic Variation across Cultures and Discourse Practices.
