Elisabeth Sawerthal is Project Curator: Animal Mummies Exhibition in the Department of Egypt and Sudan at the British Museum. She holds a PhD from King's College London, where her research examined the power dynamics of divination in the Hebrew Bible and ancient Egypt. She previously completed a BA in Archaeology at University College London and an MA in Biblical Studies, with focus on language and literature, at King's College London. Prior to her current role, she held a position as librarian and heritage consultant at the Palestine Exploration Fund and has worked as an archaeologist in Egypt and Sudan.
