Gilson L. Schwartz is an economist, sociologist, journalist, game designer and Associate Professor at the Department of Film, Radio and TV of the School of Communication and Arts and at the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program on Rights, Humanities and Other Legitimacies of the Faculty of Philosophy, Literature and Humanities of the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. He created the "City of Knowledge" digital inclusion platform ( after a Call for Projects by the Institute of Advanced Studies at USP in 1999. His current project, selected by the Graduate Programs Office at USP in the area of Arts and Humanities, focuses on the emergence of cultural cryptocurrencies as a socioeconomic design tool for digital emancipation in the global development of an emerging "iconomy".

At King´s College as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow partnering with Coventry University and the University of Warwick, he expects to further engage Brazilian and UK communities in collaborative action-research initiatives to critically foster the digital humanities field leveraged by innovative funding and monetization models.
