Biography

Jonathan Krause joined King’s College, London as a Teaching Fellow in the Modern History of Warfare in 2017.  Before coming back to King’s he was the Principal Investigator on an Arts and Humanities Research Council Early Career Research Grant entitled ‘Rebellion and Mobilisation in French and German Colonies, 1914-1918’ at the University of Oxford.  The project focused on the anticolonial rebellions that occurred throughout the French empire during, and as a result of, the First World War.  Before coming to Oxford Jonathan taught at the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell and in the Defence Studies Department, King’s College, London.  Jonathan did his BA at the University of California, Riverside (2006), and his MA (2007) and PhD (2011) at King’s College, London.

Teaching

I teach broadly on the history of France and the French Empire, and specifically on warfare in the 20th century (principally the First World War).
