Biography

Kirk first joined the School of Security Studies as an MA International Peace and Security candidate in the War Studies Department in September 2016. After completing his MA, Kirk gained experience working for a small digital strategy consultancy, where he developed an interest in the use of digital channels to develop and deliver quality information. Today, Kirk puts his passion for the study of international relations and war and his interest in digital communications to work as the School’s Digital Communication Officer.

Additionally, before studying at King's, Kirk achieved a BA in Political Science with a minor focus in Peace Studies at the University of North Texas in May 2015. While pursuing his BA, Kirk served as a Research Assistant on a UNT pilot study conducted in cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. This study ultimately led to the publication of “Echoes of Testimonies,” which can be found on the United Nations’ website

Responsibilities

  • Producing high-quality digital content, such as photos, videos, and podcasts to promote events, research activities, and expertise;
  • Managing the Departments of War Studies and Defence Studies' social media accounts and other digital channels, which include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and SoundCloud;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the School’s digital impact;
  • Authoring termly social media analytics reports;
  • Advising on the School’s digital communications strategy;
  • And collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders in the domain of digital communications.
