Marcelo is a Visiting PhD Researcher that joined the War Studies Department in 2019, coming from the Military Sciences PhD Program of the Brazilian Army Command and General Staff College (ECEME). His current research on Cyber Deterrence Alternatives for Non-Aggressive Nations is partially funded by the Brazilian Federal Foundation for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES). He holds an MA in War Studies from King’s College London, a Diploma in High Studies in Policy and Strategy from the Brazilian War College (ESG), an MBA in Corporate Strategies from Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and a BSc in Computer Science from University of Brasilia (UnB).
His professional experience encompasses software development, project management, entrepreneurship, quality assurance and innovation processes, being founder and partner of a Brazilian software company specialised in banking automation.
The Brazilian Army awarded him with the Medal of the Peacemaker (2013) and the Medal of the Army (2017).
