Biography
Mayra Ameneiros is a consultant and Professor on biosafety and biosecurity. She has a BSc in Biochemistry, a MSc in blood banks and immunohematology, a postgraduate degree in international security, disarmament, and non-proliferation of WMD, and two professional certifications in biorisk management and biosecurity from IFBA. She has over a decade of experience in different biochemistry areas and conducting scientific research. In February 2022, she joined King's College London, Department of War Studies as a Research Associate supporting the GlobalBioLabs project, which aims to increase public knowledge about maximum containment facilities around the world and to strengthen national and international biorisk management policies and practices.
Ameneiros is engaged in various national and international organisations related to Biosafety, Biosecurity and Global Health Security, such as the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSAC Steering Committee, APP3 group on Biosafety and Biosecurity and the Task Force on Advocacy & Communications), the Safety & Security Committee at iGEM, and The International Working Group on Strengthening the Culture of Biosafety, Biosecurity and Responsible Conduct in the Life Sciences. At the national level, Ameneiros is a member of the Biosafety and Biorisk Management Committee at IRAM and the Biosafety and Biosecurity Subcommittee at the Argentinean Association of Microbiology.
Ameneiros is always interested in mentoring opportunities and she acts as a Mentor at the IFBA Global Mentorship Program. In January 2022, Ameneiros was elected as Deputy Coordinator for the Next Generation Global Health Security Network. She has several positions; Director of Strategic Engagement & Development at Biopreparedness International, a Consulting Advisory Board member at Merrick & Company´s Life Sciences, and a Senior Advisor at PandemicTech.
