Biography

M Nur Akkese is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Psychological Medicine at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London. She is based at the Centre for Research in Eating and Weight Disorders (CREW), where her research focuses on the caregiving experiences, carer skills, and psychological well-being of parents of individuals with eating disorders. Her research particularly examines the psychological characteristics and supportive caregiving experiences of fathers of individuals with eating disorders, using both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

She joined King's in 2021, initially undertaking the MSc in Mental Health Studies before progressing to PhD research within the Department of Psychological Medicine.

She holds a BA in Psychology from Ankara University, Turkey, and an MSc in Clinical Psychology from Hacettepe University, Turkey. She has been funded by the Government of Turkey for her MSc and PhD education at King's.

M Nur Akkese is an ISST-approved Standard Level Individual Schema Therapist and has six years of experience as an independent psychotherapist. Her clinical specialisation focuses on personality traits and disorders, relational difficulties, and eating disorders.
