Biography

Nuriza Tukiran is a Research Assistant in Psychoneuroimmunology at the Department of Psychological Medicine, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London, a position she has held since October 2024.

Her research examines the relationships between inflammation, neurogenesis, and neuropsychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on using vitro models to investigate long-COVID with comorbid depression and major depressive disorder. Nuriza also serves as a Writer and Assistant Editor for Inspire the Mind, an online platform produced by researchers from the Stress, Psychiatry and Immunology (SPI) Lab. Passionate about science communication, she addresses topics at the intersection of science, society, and mental health.

Nuriza holds a BSc in Neuroscience from the University of Manchester and an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience from University College London (UCL), underpinning a career dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of the brain and its relationship to psychiatric disease.
