Paul studied economics at the University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, the Paris School of Economics and the University of Warwick. Prior to starting his PhD at King’s he undertook six-month internships at the European Investment Bank and the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR).
Paul is working with the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE) in collaboration with the Office for National Statistics. His current project consists in investigating methods to estimate a timely monthly output measure of GDP for the United Kingdom using VAT returns. It involves employing state space methods for filtering, cleaning and temporally disaggregating rolling quarterly figures and forecasting techniques to account for late returns.
