Lecturer in Midwifery
Penny Charles has a BA (hons) in Sociology and Education and an MSc in Complementary Therapies. Her PGCEA qualification has enabled her to teach midwives and nurses since 1996, after she qualified as a midwife in the 1980’s. She specialises in the social sciences and facilitating reflection both at the university and in the clinical area.
Penny enjoys exploring innovative teaching methods such as in the arts and humanities in midwifery and participating in Forum Theatre. She is also a qualified aromatherapist and meditation instructor, and enjoys incorporating these modalities into her teaching.
