Biography
Rebecca works in the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Slavery in War within the War Studies Department where she is working within the (Re)Conceptualising Slavery in War research strand.
Rebecca joined King’s from Coram International Research Institute where she specialised in children and women’s rights in humanitarian and conflict-affected contexts. She has expertise in socio-legal research across several areas, including child protection, access to justice, child, early and forced marriage and sexual exploitation, gender-based violence, and child labour.
She has significant experience designing and undertaking mixed-methods research and evaluations for UNICEF, UN Women, UNFPA and individual governments, most recently conducting research with adults and children in Ukraine in the context of the full-scale invasion.
Currently, she is working alongside Dr Jack McDonald to understand and map the intersection between war studies and slavery studies, in addition to a number of other research projects within the Centre for Research on Slavery in War.
She holds a keen interest in embedding participatory methods and survivor-based research within more traditional war studies approaches.
Previously, Rebecca completed an MA in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies in the King's War Studies Department, and prior to this completed BA History at University College London.
