Biography

Saskia completed her PhD in 2017 at the University of Edinburgh examining the genetic associations between cognitive ability, negative emotions and health outcomes. Following this she spend 1.5 years as a postdoc with Cathryn Lewis at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre focussing on the shared genetic aetiology between later onset depression and cardio-metabolic disease. In 2018, she was awarded an MRC Skills Development Fellowship to dissect the association between cardio-metabolic traits and severe mental illness using a prediction modelling approach. 

Saskia has experience in statistical genetics, including genome-wide associations studies, polygenic risk score analysis, Mendelian randomization.
