Dr Selina Cox
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Biography
Selina Cox is a Post-doctoral Research Associate within the Diet and Gastrointestinal Health Group. The focus of her PhD, which she completed in November 2018, was the management of functional gastrointestinal symptoms in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This included the first randomised placebo-controlled trial of the low FODMAP diet in patients with persistent gut symptoms despite control of IBD, funded by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation. This trial also investigated, for the first time, the effect of the diet on the gut microbiome and markers of gut inflammation in quiescent IBD. Selina's current research interests include dietary intake in IBD, the role of food additives in IBD and food-related quality of life in IBD.
