
Biography
Shan is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Lau China Institute. She completed her MSc degree at the University of Bristol in Sociology before joined King's. Her research interests cover Chinese political economy and sociological studies. Shan's Ph.D. dissertation focuses on State-Owned Enterprises in China and the research is funded by China Scholarship Council. She is also the President of the British Postgraduate Network for Chinese Studies from 2019-2020.
Research
Thesis title: The relationship between status and capital in Chinese State-Owned Enterprise from 1990s till present: a case study in Sichuan, China
Shan's research focuses on the function that enterprises takes on in Chinese society and how people perceive their status within it.
