In 2016, Spyridoula obtained her Master in Immunology from King’s College London. During her MSc research project, she worked on the early signalling events in oral epithelial cells following exposure to a newly discovered fungal peptide toxin, called candidalysin, in Julian Naglik’s group. Then Spyridoula moved on doing a PhD as a joint student between Naglik’s group and Peter Parker’s group at the Francis-Crick Institute where she is currently based and continues working on the phosphorylation of proteins involved in the signalling pathway induced by candidalyisin.
