Biography
Tahani Al-Karkhi holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics, with her research focusing on the development and analysis of mathematical models for plankton dynamics.
Her doctoral work involved constructing and studying complex non-linear systems to better understand the interactions between different species in aquatic ecosystems, with particular emphasis on stability analysis, bifurcation theory and the ecological implications of her models.
In addition to her academic research, Tahani has also gained valuable teaching and interdisciplinary experience through her role as an Assistant Professor (ASE) at the University of Essex.
She has contributed to both the Department of Economics and the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science, delivering lectures and seminars across a range of topics.
Cross-disciplinary involvement has allowed her to apply her mathematical expertise to diverse fields, including economic modelling and statistical analysis, while also mentoring students and supporting academic development within both departments.
She has been a fellow in UK Higher Education since 2021.
