Visiting Senior Research Fellow
Thomas Plant is Director of the Proliferation and Nuclear Policy programme at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), the world's oldest independent think tank on international defence and security. He is also Director of the UK Project on Nuclear Issues. Before joining RUSI in 2017, he was a Principal Specialist at the Atomic Weapons Establishment, where he was responsible for technical oversight of arms control verification research programmes. Prior to that he held various posts at the Ministry of Defence and Foreign and Commonwealth Office, during which he spent a year seconded to King’s College as a Research Fellow on a project in support of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He holds a Masters in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a Postgraduate Certificate in Systems Engineering from Cranfield University.
