Biography

Tom is a nurse and family therapist currently completing a NIHR Clinical Doctoral Fellowship at King's College London. Tom joined the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry department at IoPPN in 2015. Previously he worked as a Lecturer Practitioner at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London. He obtained a BSc in Nursing Studies and MSc in Family Therapy at King’s College London. Tom’s research and clinical practice is in the area of adolescent eating disorders, and his PhD is investigating predictors of outcome for adolescent anorexia nervosa.

  • Attachment theory. 
  • Mentalization. 

Research Groups

I am part of the Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders, which is a research-active clinical team with SLaM CAMHS. 

Expertise and Public Engagement

Tom works clinically as a nurse and family therapist at the Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Family Therapy.  

Description

Tom teaches on the Systematic Literature Review module of the CAMH MSc course, and the Dissertation module of the Family Therapy MSc course at IoPPN.
