Consumer Enforcement in Digital Markets

Law

Course overview

As regulatory scrutiny increases, organisations need professionals who can understand, manage and respond to consumer law risks. This course provides a practical introduction to consumer law and enforcement in digital markets. Across six sessions, you'll explore the core principles of consumer protection law, including unfair commercial practices, unfair terms, digital goods and services, and consumer rights in online environments. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 has introduced a new era of direct enforcement, giving the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) significant powers to investigate breaches, impose penalties and drive compliance. On this course you'll gain practical insight into how consumer law operates in practice, how the CMA exercises its direct enforcement powers, and how organisations can identify, manage and mitigate compliance risks. Taught by recognised practitioners and regulatory experts, the programme combines legal expertise with real-world perspectives on compliance, investigations and enforcement.
