Driving next-generation science beyond animal models
The Centre for 3Rs & Translational Innovation (C3RTI) is a strategic cross-university platform at King’s College London, advancing the Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement (3Rs) of animal use in research. We connect expertise across disciplines to accelerate the development and adoption of next-generation human-relevant approaches, and to translate 3Rs innovation into better treatments, better disease understanding, and better outcomes for human health.
Bringing together researchers, technical staff and partners from across the university and the wider research sector, the Centre creates a community where knowledge, skills and resources are shared. Through this joined-up approach, we increase the visibility and impact of our work and build a supportive and influential research community to advance responsible, high-quality research.
Our priorities
The Centre focuses on four priorities:
- Connecting 3Rs expertise across disciplines to drive cross-sector impact
- Embedding the 3Rs into research training and education at all levels
- Strengthening animal welfare as a foundation for scientific quality and rigour
- Accelerating the development, validation, and adoption of approaches that reduce and replace animal use
Collaboration
The Centre actively welcomes collaboration with academic, clinical, policy and industry partners who share a commitment to improving research quality, strengthening animal welfare, and advancing human-relevant science.
