Geocomputation research group

Our research builds on the digital revolution to understand social and environmental change at multiple scales. We use spatially-referenced data from a wide range of sources, including personal mobile devices, transport and telecommunications systems, and environmental sensor networks.

We use this data to investigate pressing challenges in human and physical geography relating to topics such as crime, health, mobility and the environment. This involves developing innovative computational methods to analyse processes leading to social and environmental change in order to identify alternative pathways through an uncertain future.
