The Innovation Institutes work to encourage innovation and create impact. Whether by accelerating the translation of King's health research into a marketable products, helping turn King's research into actionable policy or facilitating collaborations between King’s and the cultural sector.
The team works closely with King’s academics to evaluate, protect and commercialise intellectual property (IP) arising from your research. The team has significant experience in the commercialisation of IP including Copyright, Database Rights, and Confidential Know-How.

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK universities and higher education colleges. The outcome of REF2014 determined how around £2 billion in research funding was allocated each year from 2015-16 to present.
King's College London submitted 132 impact case studies to REF2021.

The team provides free consultation on how to build high-quality, high-impact public engagement and patient involvement plans into research grant proposals. They offer support in the following ways:
This network brings together researchers and public engagement professionals from across the university interested in developing, sharing and celebrating their public engagement practice. They run termly training workshops and have a monthly newsletter detailing opportunities to get hands-on experience, funding calls, resources and inspiring public engagement projects.
