Rachel Barnard

Rachel Barnard

Rachel is currently working with Martin Stevens and Deborah Chinn as the Research Assistant for a short-term project aimed at supporting a grant application for a larger scale study exploring how social care funding can be equitably distributed among service recipients with learning disabilities. Consultation events with service users and other stakeholders will be supported through the use of ‘Forum Theatre’ as a participatory tool, and a review of the literature will be conducted.

Rachel is a qualitative researcher and a speech and language therapist. She recently successfully defended her PhD thesis which explored information sharing between SLTs and nurses in stroke unit care using ethnography. Rachel has a particular interest in how members of different professions work together in inpatient settings, with expertise in ethnography, meta-ethnography and conversation analysis.
