Course overview

By studying this course you will develop existing language skills further and prepare for TOPIK I.

You will be able to understand questions that test listening skill as well as be able to understand questions that test reading skill. You will be familiar with question formats and styles following a thorough analysis of question types and be better prepared to answer questions after completing practice tests and reviewing answers.

You will develop an overall strategy to approach the test as a whole, based on analysis of past papers and be able to sit the first level of TOPIK with greater self-confidence.

What does this course cover?

Listening

  • Using the answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ (for questions with or without interrogatives)
  • Choosing a topic of dialogue that is appropriate to the question
  • Describing a suitable location that fits the topic of the dialogue
  • Understanding the main idea(s) under discussion, as well as the detailed contents

Reading

  • Finding relevant information within the text, or finding a keyword
  • Understanding the core concept of the text, in addition to the detailed contents
  • Organising discrete sentences into a meaningful logical order

 

Grammar

  • Tenses: present, past, future
  • The honorific form: -(으)시
  • Regular and irregular verbs/adjectives: ‘ㄹ’, ‘으’, ‘ㅂ’, ‘ㄷ’, ‘ㅅ’, ‘ㅎ’, ‘르’
