Journal of Leadership and Developing Societies
The African Leadership Centre established the Journal of Leadership and Developing Societies in 2016. LDS is an academic peer-reviewed journal which motivates original thinking and high-quality analysis on the interaction between leadership and the security-development nexus with a global focus on the developing world. It fills an important gap by examining leadership as a distinctive aspect of security and development processes and not simply as a by-product of institution building. It provides empirically grounded analysis of the interactions between security and development; and bridges the theory and practice of leadership in developing societies.
ALC publication series
The ALC publication series provides an avenue for the regular peer review and publishing of innovative research and analysis of Fellows and staff on current security and development issues in Africa. Such publications were previously housed with the publication series of the Conflict, Security and Development Group at King's College London. This capacity is now being transferred to the African Leadership Centre. The Centre is developing its own publication series, which will be dedicated to publishing the products of research and analysis undertaken by ALC Fellows and staff, following a rigorous review process.
The publication series include:
- ALC Lecture Series
- ALC Keynote Series
- ALC Research Reports
- ALC Monographs
- ALC Working Papers
- ALC Leadership Issues in Africa
- ALC Opinions
- ALC Policy Briefings (forthcoming)
All of these series of publications are available through the ALC-Nairobi site.
The African Leadership Centre conducted an extensive mapping study in 2010, the purpose of which was to gain a better understanding of the state of affairs of Peace and Security Studies as a discipline across African Universities. The ALC is currently working with different partners, to take the findings of this study forward. The project was funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
