UK ADR Two Day Conference
9-10th January 2017
Aim: To provide a space for conversation, networking and defining frontiers of knowledge for leaders from UK based research, policy and practice institutions engaged in DRR/M and climate change adaptation
There will be no registration fee, conference costs are covered by the UK ADR, King's College London and Durham University.
The meeting is organised by UK Alliance for Disaster Research (UK ADR). The UK ADR aims to provide UK government with a science platform to feed into policy development, help anticipate and respond to emergencies and underpin the science contributions to the UK government’s commitments under the UN Sendai Framework. King’s College London Centre for Integrated Research on Risk and Resilience is a member of UK ADR and hosts this event.
The conference is for two days and will address three key themes:
- rethinking society through disaster risk and its management
- is interdisciplinarity in disaster sciences a well rehearsed myth or practiced reality?
- lessons for impact and science-policy-practice collaboration for social change
Submissions for one and two hour sessions and from individual papers or posters are welcomed. Submissions for papers or sessions should include a title, abstract and contact email. Proposals from practice and policy actors are especially welcome. All sessions should contain a mixture of academic, policy and/or practice viewpoints.
Submissions are open 1st July and close 1st September 2016
Please send any submissions, or questions to Mark Pelling and Amy Donovan
