Clifford on River Management

Posted on 22/10/2012

Professor Nick Clifford was invited to give the Professor John Pugh Memorial Lecture on 22 October 2012.

During the lecture Professor Clifford explored 'Changing approaches to river management: from flooding to environmental restoration'. The topic explores ‘traditional’ approaches to river management, based on engineering solutions focused on flood protection, effluent disposal, power generation and transport; through ‘working’ with nature to yield ‘soft engineering’ such as bank protection; to current issues in river restoration and habitat enhancement.

The lecture took place at High Weald GA, and assembled schools at the Judd School, Tonbridge.
