The Department’s international reputation attracts high-profile senior visiting scholars, each of whom is associated with one of our five research domains. Since 2015 senior visiting academics have included Nate Matthews (International Water Management Institute, Sri Lanka), Josef Konvitz (Pascal International Observatory), Stephen Lintner (the World Bank), Lisa Dilling (University of Colorado) and Glen Watts (the Environment Agency).
If you would like come to the Department of Geography at King's College London as a visiting professor, research associate or scientist we do have a process for you to follow.
The first thing you need to do is identify a member of staff who will be your host. To do this you should consult their staff profiles to find similar interests. You will then need to approach them to see if their schedule will allow them to take you on.
Bench fees to cover overheads and administrative costs will be charged at the following rates for the year 2017/8.
- Per term: £500
- Per week: £50
[Note: Standard bench fees are £1500 per term, but this figure has been reduced in 2017/8 as currently we are not able to guarantee desk space for visitors due to the Department’s move from Strand Campus to Bush House.]
Once you have an agreement from your academic sponsor please work with them to complete the visiting appointment nomination form (available on our staff intranet pages).
Please note applications for this process should be for visits that are longer than 6 weeks (i.e., ½ a term). Shorter visits should be dealt with more informally.
