Welcome to the Geography PhD programme at King's College London

You can also sign up for a Centre for Doctoral Studies induction.
Once you have completed the above steps you are ready to proceed and enrol in person at King's College London.
If you start your PGR Programme at a different time than the September intake, please contact Nallini Samuel for a department introduction.
PhD Induction Schedule
Monday 18 September
PGR Induction Day: Pyramid Room, K4U.04
11.00-12.00: Introduction to PGR Geography
Welcome to the department - Professor Bruce Malamud (Deputy Head of Department)
The Geography PGR community and introduction to the Research Domain Groups - Dr Daanish Mustafa (PGR Director)
A graduate student's guide to surviving or thriving in London - Professor Ragnar Lofstedt (PGR Tutor)
12.00-13.00: Tour of the Department and Desk Space
13.00-14.00: Lunch break
14.00-14.45: Professional Service Talk
15.00-16.00: Get to know your supervisor- Fleet River Bakery, 71 Lincoln's Inn Fields, WC2A 3J
- Spend time getting to know your supervisor and other academic staff over some tea/coffee and cake at the Fleet River Bakery (15 min walk from campus).
17.00-19.00: Drinks Reception for all PGR students and Staff - Common Room, K4.07
This will give you the opportunity to network with current and new PGR students and meet our academic and professional service staff.
Wednesday 20 September
11.30-13.30: Methods Basic Skills Talk
Location: K6.29, King's Building
This is a basic skills session for PGT students who are doing an MSc and need an introduction on methods skills. New PGRs are invited to attend this if they would like a refresher.
Wednesday 27 September
Centre for Doctoral Studies induction
Location: Franklin-Wilkins Builing, Waterloo Campus
12.30-14.30: International Student Induction, Room 1.11
There will be two sessions; one on Immigrations and Visas and the other on Life in London. This will be followed by a light lunch before the main session.
14.30-15.00: Centre for Doctoral Studies induction
Location: Auditorium (B5)
A university-wide induction event for all new postgraduate research students.
The aim of this induction programme is to welcome new postgraduate research students to King's College London and to give an overview of PGR matters from staff across the university with a range of perspectives.
