Beyond Sykes-Picot? ISIS in Iraq and Syria

Middle East and Mediterranean Studies Programme, King's College London

A roundtable discussion with Michael Kerr, John Bew, Craig Larkin, Stacey Gutkowski, Anne Hagood and Carool Kersten.

Thursday 3 July, 6-7.30

Strand campus, K0.18 (King's building)

The recent advances by ISIS have consolidated their territorial gains in Syria and Iraq, leading commentators to ask what might become of the state boundaries drawn by the mandatory powers in the early 20th century. This roundtable will explore potential implications for the region in light of the current threat, possibilities for power sharing and governance, and the role of external powers and foreign fighters.

All welcome.
