Biography

Dr Anna Gwiazda is a Senior Lecturer in Comparative Politics in the Department of Political Economy. Before joining King’s in September 2010, Anna worked at Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. She was also a Visiting Scholar at the European University Institute, Sussex European Institute, Australian National University and the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. She has a PhD from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, an M.A. in Political Science from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary and a BA in Economics from Technical University in Radom, Poland.

Research Interests

Anna’s current research focuses on the quality of democracy, democratization, women’s political representation, European politics and Polish politics. In the past, she also conducted research on the Europeanisation of public policies. 

Anna's book 'Democracy in Poland' was published by Routledge in August 2015.
It was reviewed in West European Politics and East European Politics. Anna's book is now available in paperback www.routledge.com.

Research grants 

Anna was awarded £43,000 by the Noble Foundation for the research project entitled ‘The substantive representation of women in Poland,’ which was conducted from 1 October 2016 until 30 September 2017.
