Teresa

Dr Teresa Alvarez

Teresa Alvarez is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Gerontology. She has a medical degree and a medical speciality in internal medicine. After working as a doctor, she realized that older people are more prone to experience neglect not only in healthcare but also within families and society, leaving them in a disadvantaged position. Her main area of research is the relationship between chronic conditions, in particular obesity and diabetes, socio-economic conditions and disability. She uses longitudinal secondary data analysis of four different countries in order to do comparative analysis.
