Speaker: Dr. Graciana del Castillo is a Senior Fellow at the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Dr del Castillo will be discussing the major obstacles to peacebuilding that need to be removed before war-torn countries can move towards peace, stability and prosperity.
Dr del Castillo was formerly the senior economist in the Office of the UN Secretary General and later joined the IMF. She was also a Director of Sovereign Ratings at Standard & Poor’s, board member of the Centennial Group Latin America, senior consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank, visiting scholar at the OECD Development Center, and an economic advisor to the Mission of Uruguay at the UN. She is the author of Rebuilding War-Torn Societies (OUP, 2008) and Obstacles to Peacebuidling (Routledge, 2017) and numerous other articles and publications on the economic aspects of post-war reconstruction and peace building.
