Violence, Fear or Uncertainty? Fragile Alliances among Colombian Violent Non-state Actors - Rebels, Paramilitaries and Drug traffickers
Dr. Annette Idler teaches “Transnational Organised Crime” and “Conflict in Latin America” at the University of Oxford, England. She is also a Research Associate at the Graduate Institute Geneva’s Centre on Conflict, Development and Peace-building, and a Research Fellow on peace communities in Colombia’s borderlands with the University FLACSO, Ecuador. Annette has recently completed her doctoral thesis at the Department of International Development at St. Antony's College, University of Oxford. As a Drugs, Security and Democracy Fellow, sponsored by the Social Science Research Council, the Open Society Foundations and the International Development Research Centre, she conducted extensive fieldwork in Colombia’s crisis-affected borderlands. She previously worked for UNDP’s Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the German Development Organisation GIZ and the German Embassy in Costa Rica.
