With a background in tertiary-level academic publishing in strategic and defence studies, military history and international affairs with Macmillan (now Palgrave), Anne-Lucie published many of the leading scholars in these fields including Professor Sir Lawrence Freedman, Professor Brian Holden Reid and others. She was Editorial Director for books at Jane’s Defence Publishing. In the digital field, she created for Microsoft a Chronology of World History. Miss Norton has held board-level appointments in several companies with experience in and responsibility for editorial strategy, brand development, and acquisitions.

Appointed to develop the Department’s ground-breaking completely online masters degrees, War Studies Online is in its twelfth year with 341 graduates worldwide. Alumni include the former British Ambassador to Georgia, the head of the Kenyan army, and one of a small team that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013 for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons.
