Truth Tellers

Truth Tellers Exhibition Traumatic truth-making as art and politics
The Exchange 25 April-30 May 2019

For the textual aspect of this project, Mariah Whelan and Dr Pablo de Orellena brought together two very different ways of looking at any given political text.

In the visual section of the project Dr Christiana Spens and Tom de Freston used a method of intervisuality, developed to both analyse visual representations of the aftermath of the Manchester bombing.

Truth Tellers explores how sense was made of the collective trauma of the 2017 Manchester Arena attacks by developing new Art-IR analytical methods that combine creative practices and international relations methods to recover and explore the aesthetic codes of trauma, community and identity.  It is funded by the Faculty of Social Sciences at King’s College London as a pilot for a larger research project.

The Truth Tellers project is a collaboration between painter Tom de Freston, poet Mariah Whelan and international relations scholars Drs. Christiana Spens (St Andrews) and Pablo de Orellana (KCL).
