Asian Security & Warfare



The ASWRG brings together dynamic and committed individuals who are involved in numerous research projects of both national and international profiles.

Research themes pertain to a variety of subjects grouped in three main areas:

  • History Projects (concerning issues such as the evolution of Asian warfare, war legacies, the Cold War in Asia, the impact of imperialism and decolonisation on national and regional security);
  • Contemporary Security Projects (including thematic issues such as nuclear proliferation in Asia, energy and water security, insurgency);
  • National and Sub-Regional Projects (examining national defence and security policies, military strategies and capabilities development).
