About Politics At King's
King’s is a global centre of excellence for the study of politics and international relations.
Politics at King’s is an initiative seeking to strengthen cross-departmental collaboration around the study of politics, whether at local, national, regional or global level. King’s has made a massive investment in global politics and policy studies since 2008, leading to the creation of two new departments and six research institutes and the strengthening of long established departments.
Politics at King's:
- Trains the next generation of leaders in scholarship, government, diplomacy, defence, journalism, and public affairs.
- Provides innovative teaching across the broad field of politics and international studies.
- Encourages fresh perspectives on political ideas, institutions, processes and challenges.
We are the largest concentration of scholars, post-graduate researchers and taught programmes devoted to this field in Europe and one of the largest in the world, including over 150 academics and over 50 programmes, with particular strengths in security studies, international relations, political economy, public policy and regional studies.
The departments and institutes involved in Politics at King’s form a network for collaboration on the key issues confronting us in a globalised world. The main focus of the initiative is to harness the expertise of staff in the area of politics broadly defined, drawing on the strong tradition of multi and interdisciplinary research at King’s and involving a wide range of other disciplines, including philosophy, sociology, theology, history, political economy, medical sciences, psychology, and psychiatry.
