Careers and Alumni

Studying Politics at King’s prepares students for a great variety of careers.  Our students will acquire analytical and problem-solving skills, develop their ability to conduct research and construct coherent arguments; enhancing their employability and aiding professional career development.

King’s dedicated Careers service additionally serves to provide impartial guidance to help students and graduates achieve career satisfaction and connect with relevant organisations and companies. We also host specialist career events for politics students on working in government, NGOs, think-tanks, finance and many more.

markus-nielsen"Other than being one of the few universities offering a top-notch programme in International Political Economy in the UK, King’s College also enjoys a global reputation as a research excellence centre. Combined with the diversity amongst students these are among the main reasons that convinced me to embark on this program at KCL. The time I spent at this university at the very heart of London certainly was one of the most enriching periods during my education.

The broad range of courses allowed my classmates and me to focus on our individual areas of interest within the multi-disciplinary subject of international political economy. As I continue to work as a lawyer in the field of international banking and finance law after the end of the programme, my understanding of the background behind client decisions and the relevant legislation were considerably sharpened. In addition to my own experience, I can see how my classmates have found employment in NGOs, international organisations, business and finance, and how we continue to benefit from our friendship and from the truly global network that King’s gave us the chance to develop."
