During these challenging times of uncertainty and change, staff and students at King’s are committed to continuing to serve their local communities. More than ever, we have become aware of the vital role civil society plays in enabling communities to support those most in need.
If you are looking to make a change in your local community, King’s Civic Leadership Academy is now open for applications!
Open to all second-year undergraduate students, the Civic Leadership Academy is a funded, 9-month leadership development programme offering you the opportunity to work with community organisations to address some of London’s most complex social issues, from mental health to education, poverty and homelessness.
The programme offers a unique opportunity combining hands on experience and classroom learning to support you in becoming a highly employable, civically minded and engaged citizen, skilled in creating positive change within society.
During your time on the programme, you will:
- Receive a £3,291 bursary to enable full participation in the programme
- Gain 240 hours of frontline experience working with a community organisation (charities, social enterprises, community interest companies, trusts and foundations)
- Receive 60 hours of training and learning to develop skills, knowledge and the mindset to lead positive change in your community.
- Engage with like-minded civic leaders both within King’s and amongst London’s pioneering charities and social enterprises.
